These quotes come from Kant's Critique of Pure Reason, and Marcus Aurelius Books of Meditations, both the overall works I've adapted to sound like XXI century English. Of course, nothing will replace reading the original works, but we have to accept that it is not very comfortable to read the original created more than 300 years ago, direcly in German. Many of these philosophycal works were translated to English in the 1600's (in the case of Stoicism) and the early 1900's. It requires patience and a lot of respect to the author's legacy.
